(Batesville, IN) – Four Batesville High School and Ivy Tech Community College students have committed to pursue technical careers with Batesville Tool & Die (BTD) for the remainder of the current school year.

The company held a special ceremony for 11th-grade students Mason Jones and Carter Wehr, and 12th-graders Mason Mosey and Josh Bischoff on August 30.

All four students committed to work with Batesville Tool & Die professionals in all areas of Manufacturing technical fields.

At the signing ceremony, BTD Program Coordinator Toby Walsman explained that each student will be placed for two weeks in eight different technical fields that will introduce them to what it takes to be successful in those areas.

After the 16-week rotation, each student will have a personal discussion with Walsman on what area intrigues the students’ interest the most, and then that student will be placed in that area for the remainder of the school year to get a hands-on feel for that trade of interest.

“We here at BTD are very excited to be teaming up with BHS and Ivy Tech for this co-op program with their students. This is a great opportunity for the students to get to know why America started with Manufacturing and for our company to educate young adults with an understanding that, in fact, Manufacturing is a great way of life and a great way to make a living,” said Walsman.
