(Batesville, IN) – Southeastern Indiana residents will have an opportunity to engage directly with 9th Congressional District candidates at the “Healthcare for Hoosiers” debate on Saturday, November 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Liberty Park Pavilion in Batesville.
Hosted by the Ripley and Franklin County Democratic parties, organizers says the event is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for improved rural healthcare access and encouraging strong civic engagement among voters.
The debate will be centered on healthcare policies and solutions impacting the 9th Congressional District.
Confirmed participants include Democratic candidates James Logan Davidson, Jim Graham, Brad Meyer, Tim Peck and Independent candidate Floyd Taylor. Organizers say Republican incumbent Erin Houchin has not responded to an invitation to participate.
Rachael Chatham will serve as moderator.
The event will feature two keynote speakers: Indiana Secretary of State candidate Blythe Potter and Stuart Campbell Ray, MD with Johns Hopkins.
Attendees can also visit resource tables hosted by local healthcare organizations, register to vote on-site and enjoy complimentary snacks and music provided by a local DJ.
“Healthcare is fundamentally a community issue, not a partisan one—it affects every family in Southeastern Indiana,” said Victoria Martz, Chair of the Ripley County Democrats and candidate for Indiana Statehouse. “This is a critical opportunity for our citizens to meet the candidates, ask tough questions, and demand clear answers on their healthcare concerns. Your voice matters. We invite everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to join us and actively participate in this crucial conversation ahead of the 2026 election.”
The community event is free to attend, and tickets are not required, though donations and sponsorships are being accepted to help cover costs.
