The Batesville 7th grade boys basketball was back in action for the first time in the New Year, where they fell short of the Greensburg Pirates. The Bulldogs started slow from the beginning and found themselves trying to claw their way back into the game. Late in the first quarter the Bulldogs got their first points and ended up trailing 8-14. The second quarter started out with better effort as the Bulldogs held the pirates to only 6 points in the half. The Bulldogs game out the second half and found some sparks on the defensive side, with Eli Denni getting back-to-back steals in the third quarter. The Bulldogs narrowed the lead to 6, but couldn’t find a way to tie the game and the bulldogs would eventually fall by a score of 26-33. Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Jackson Peetz and Camden Kaiser with 7, Winston Garret with 6, Eli Denni, Carson Meyer, and Levi Hunt with 2 points each. The Bulldogs are now 10-8 on the season and will face Rushville Lions Tuesday night at home.
