The following are boys basketball recaps from Friday, December 10. There may be updates, so please check back.
(VAR) Jac-Cen-Del notched a win over North Decatur 70-58.
The Eagles took a four-point lead into intermission then outscored the Chargers 23-11 in the third quarter to go up 16.
Wyatt Day and Caleb Simon both buried 21 points for the Eagles. Day was perfect on 10 free throw attempts. Devin Grieshop added 10 points.
Blake Spears had 21 points to headline the ND scoring ledger. Conner Linkmeyer followed with 11.
(JV) Jac-Cen-Del also won the reserve game over North Decatur 54-39.
For the Eagle JV, Brady Comer canned 13 points, Landon Kohlman scored 12 and Seth Drockelman had eight.
Cooper Parmer and Reid Messer were ND’s top scorers with 12 and eight respectively.
Greensburg topped Triton Central 61-43.
The Pirates hit 53 percent from the floor and shot a healthy 20 of 27 at the line.
Ki Dyer’s 14 points and six assists were tops for the Bucs. Jeter Edwards logged 13 points and five rebounds while Colin Comer contributed 12 points and four assists.
Josh Kemper scored 16 in the loss for the Tigers.
South Decatur downed Milan 77-62.
After a 17-17 first quarter, the visiting Cougars outscored the Indians by 10 to go up 39-29 at halftime. SD hit 62 percent of its two-point shots.
South’s Hunter Johnson poured in 39 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Teammate Jacob Scruggs scored 17 to go along with five steals and five boards.
Franklin County got a W over Rushville 54-42.
The Wildcats had a plus-11 advantage on the glass.
Chad Cox led FC with 22 points and six rebounds. Brant Ertel scored 11. JD Stokes had a team-best 10 boards and added eight points.
Jennings County rolled to a 64-19 victory over East Central.
A tough day at the office for East Central as the Trojans were held to just 25 percent shooting and only 14 rebounds. It was the lowest offensive output by EC since Connersville held them to 17 points in February 2019.
Ryan Brotherton scored 10 for the St. Leon lads and also led the team in rebounds with three.
Eleven different Panthers scored. Owen Law led with 10 while Cole Sigler and Jacob Vogel both scored nine.
Madison bested South Dearborn 47-41.
It was the first win of the season for the Cubs and the first loss for the Knights.
South Dearborn got 17 points from Eli Hoffman and 10 via Reese Willoughby.
Switzerland County beat river rival Rising Sun 56-52.
The Pacers captured the Ruler of the River trophy thanks in part to 18 points and nine rebounds by Cam Craig and 14 points and three assists from Ben Hicks. “Bryce Squared” scored eight each, Bryce Turner and Bryce Wrightsman.
Brady Works led the Shiners with 17 points, Peyton Merica tallied 14 and Damon Carrigan added 12.
Seton Catholic captured victory over Oldenburg 73-42.
The Cardinals led 23-6 after the first quarter and put four players in double figure scoring: Mason Harvey 21 points, Braiden Hogg 13, Dorian Hill 12 and Elijah Falcone 11. Hogg had nine rebounds and four assists. Hill had six boards, nine steals and four dishes.
Waldron got the win over Morristown 53-40.
The game was tied at 20 at the half. The Mohawks outscored the Yellow Jackets 21-5 in the third quarter.
Bryce Yarling racked up 30 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Waldron. Lucas Mitchell scored 12 and also had six caroms.
Nolan Laster had 19 points for Morristown.
Southwestern Shelby got by Trinity Lutheran 31-28.
The Spartans held the Cougars to five points in the second half.
