Three Car Crash Sends One To Hospital, Slows Traffic

A three vehicle accident in Batesville injured one person and slowed traffic Wednesday afternoon.

Batesville Police Officer Mike Benjamin said the accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 46 and Tekulve Road.

A westbound vehicle driven by Palmer Collins, 80, of Batesville attempted to turn left onto Tekulve Road when his 1990 Ford F250 collided with an eastbound 1999 Dodge Avenger operated by Jeffrey Hyde, 69, of Milan.

The collision sent both vehicles into a third vehicle that was at the red light on Tekulve Road. That car was driven by Eric Moenter, 63, of Batesville.

A 66-year-old female passenger who was in the front seat of Hyde’s vehicle was taken by ambulance to Margaret Mary Health for complaint of pain to her leg.

All of those that were involved were wearing seatbelts, police said.

The intersection was closed for approximately a half hour while vehicles were removed from the roadway. Batesville Police were assisted by Batesville Fire and EMS.
