Pair Accused Of Selling Wild Animals, Having Drugs

MOORES HILL – Two Moores Hill residents are in trouble with the law as authorities say they were trying to sell wild animals and also had drugs inside the home.

Indiana Conservation Officers searched a residence on State Road 350 in Moores Hill Monday after receiving information that Jason Miller, 27, and Rachel Blankenship, 18, were keeping raccoons and skunks in the home and selling them to buyers.

The search turned up raccoons, skunks, black bass and illicit drugs and paraphernalia, police said.

Miller is charged with possession of skunk (class C misdemeanor), possession of raccoon (class C misdemeanor), possession of black bass (class C misdemeanor), illegal sale of wildlife (class C misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance (level 6 felony), possession of a legend drug (level 6 felony), possession of paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor), taking juvenile to location used for drug sale, manufacture, or possession (class A misdemeanor).

Blankenship is charged with possession of skunk (class C misdemeanor), possession of raccoon (class C misdemeanor), illegal sale of wildlife (class C misdemeanor), possession of paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor), taking juvenile to location used for drug sale, manufacture, or possession (class A misdemeanor).

Both suspects were booked into the Dearborn County Jail and the Department of Child Services was contacted for further investigation.
