(Ripley County, IN) – A wreath laying ceremony will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 16 on the Ripley County Courthouse lawn near the Veterans Memorial, as part of the Ripley County Community Foundation’s Wreaths Across Ripley County initiative.
Wreaths will also be placed on more than 4,300 veterans graves in 56 cemeteries throughout Ripley County by several volunteer groups.
Ripley County is joining more than 3,700 other locations across the country for National Wreaths Across America Day.
Coordinated and led by local volunteers, groups have raised funds throughout the year to sponsor the placement of wreaths on the headstones of veterans laid to rest in Ripley County.
Organizers say the goal of Wreaths Across Ripley County is to remember those who served, honor our current service men and women, and teach our children the value of freedom.
For details on when wreath laying ceremonies will take place at each cemetery, contact Janice Lamping at the Ripley County Community Foundation by emailing [email protected] or calling (812) 933-1098.
The Ripley County Community Foundation invites veterans, active service members, and families to participate.
All are encouraged to visit your local cemetery and pay your respects for their sacrifice.
