William M. “Papaw” Harry, age 83, of Brookville, Indiana died Thursday evening September 26, 2019 at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.
Born September 2, 1936 in Straughn, Indiana he was one of 12 children born to the late Samuel Deacon & Ruby Jeanette (Binford) Harry. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He was retired from the former J & J Packaging in Brookville, and had also worked at the former Don Short Service Station in Brookville. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and being outdoors.
Survivors include three children, Stanley Harry of Florida, LaDonna (Harlan) Gabbard of Brookville, Indiana and William M. Harry Jr. of Brookville; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters Iona Howell of Dublin, Indiana and Caroline S. Hunter of Kentucky; two brothers, John R. Harry of Georgia and Robert Lee “Bob” Harry of Connersville, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tressa J. Ison who died September 3, 2019; as well as eight brothers & sisters.
Family & friends may visit from 5 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Tom Hertel will officiate the Funeral Services at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at Valley Grove Cemetery in Milton, Indiana.
