William J. “Jay” Henry, 89, former resident of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at NHC Parklane in Columbia, South Carolina. Born March 29, 1931 in Johnson County, Indiana, he was the son of Charles A. and Laura Edith (McClain) Henry. He graduated from Whiteland High School. Jay served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the military, he went to work for the Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis. After his retirement from Ford in 1989, he worked part time at the Wal Mart in Greensburg. He was a member of the Greensburg Wesleyan Church. He was married first to Patricia L. Jones on June 4, 1954 and she preceded him in death on July 31, 1988. He then married Imogene Cox on August 5, 1989 and she preceded him in death on October 21, 2016. He is survived by one son, Douglas G. (Kelly) Henry, Columbia, SC; three stepsons, Steven D. (Michelle) Holcomb, Lafayette, Charles R. “Chuck” (Donna) Thomerson, Talladega, Al., Gregory B. (Margie) Thomerson, Lexington, KY; two step daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Charles, Greensburg, Jennifer Holcomb, Greensburg; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, son, Dennis C. Henry, two brothers, Dallas Henry and Roy Henry. Due to the recent public health mandate of limited gatherings, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
