William “Bill” Albert Hellmich, a life-long resident of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, December 3, at age 87.
He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
Bill is survived by his children: Nanci Hellmich (John Cantrell), Melinda (Mike) Rushing, Sandra (Scott) Sandefur, Dana (Patrick) Lowien, and Todd (Jennifer) Hellmich; and siblings: Jim (Jo) Hellmich, Carl (Katha) Hellmich and Ann Hall. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Mae Hellmich, brother John Ed Hellmich, sister Mary Lou Buckley, and parents Albert and Luella Hellmich.
Bill was born in Greensburg on November 23, 1933, and graduated from Greensburg High School. He owned and operated a successful construction business before joining Greensburg Community Schools as Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.
He will always be remembered for his love of family, his ability to fix anything, and his great sense of humor.
The family is having a private service at St. Mary’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Hospice of Decatur County.
