The Franklin County High School Tennis team struggled at the New Castle Invitational for their season opener.
In their first match, they faced the Hamilton Heights Huskies (2-0). The Wildcats were able to squeak by the Huskies by opening up the tournament with a narrow 3-2 victory.
They then were set to face the host, New Castle Trojans (3-0). The Wildcats had a hard fought match, but they came up just short as they fell 1-4. Braydon Ertel and Dylan Little were the only Wildcat win at #1 doubles.
The Cats finish runner-up in the tournament for the second straight year. They look to improve on these matches next week in their two home matches.
Next week’s schedule is Tuesday vs. Richmond at 5:30, and Thursday vs. Centerville at 5:00. Good luck to the Wildcats and come out and support them in their two home matches next week.
