(Metamora, IN) – A longtime tourist attraction in the area will be closed for good.
The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites has decided to close the Whitewater Canal State Historic Site at Metamora.
Officials say after they exhausted all avenues to raise funds to make essential repairs, it is considered no longer economically or environmentally feasible to continue to operate and manage the site.
Plans call for the site to remain open through the 2025 summer season.
