JACKSON COUNTY, IN — You could call it a case of being on paw patrol.

An Indiana State Police trooper who is well known around Southeastern Indiana posted on social media yesterday that he was able to rescue two kittens from the side of a highway.

Sgt. Stephen Wheeles was driving along I-65 in Jackson County when he found two kittens who had been abandoned in a pet carrier.

Wheeles picked them up, and the two were unharmed. He was able to get the kittens some water, and another trooper has agreed to adopt them.

Wheeles is the Public Information Officer for the ISP Versailles Post.
