Virgil Ray Woliung, 68, of Milan passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Virgil was born to August and Ruby (Swango) Woliung in Hamilton, Ohio on Friday, November 21, 1952. He married Margaret “Peggie” White on February 2, 1974. He worked for Batesville Casket Company for 43 years. He took part in many organizations including serving on the St. Paul Lutheran Church Council, a Past Master for Masonic Lodge F & AM #31 of Milan, a current member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM #603 of Osgood, and past president of the Southeastern Indiana Shriner Club. Virgil loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, or shooting his guns. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also liked to watch old westerns and enjoyed history.
Virgil is survived by his wife Margaret “Peggie” Woliung of Milan; daughters Tara Defler (Tyler VanAllen) of Louisville, KY and Ashley Hooten (Joshua) of Versailles; brothers: Gerald Woliung (Debbie) of Moores Hill, Alvin Woliung of Versailles, and Robert Woliung (Ludgardis) of Lawrenceburg; sister Sheila Garlinghouse of Madison; grandchildren Aaron Waters (Amelia), Danielle Waters, Hailee Woliung, Lauren Waters, and Hayden Hooten; and great-grandchildren Emma Waters and Isaiah Kihnley. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ruby Woliung, sons Jason Ray Woliung and Adam Ray Woliung, mother-in-law Louise White, and father-in-law Elvin “Bud” White.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember Virgil 11 AM – 12:45 PM Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with a Masonic service at 12:45 PM provided by the Masonic Lodge F & AM #603 of Osgood. A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, December 15 also at the funeral home with Rev. Sue Socha officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
