Aurora, In. — Indiana State Police say a Vevay man was killed while attempting to flee from police early Saturday morning.
At 12:45 a.m. a Dearborn County deputy attempted to stop a pickup truck driven by Matthew Richards, 22, on George Street in Aurora. Richards fled on State Road 56 toward Rising Sun. The vehicle turned onto Thuermer Hollow Road, failed to negotiate a curve and struck a guard rail. Richards was ejected from the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene.
Police believe the Richards vehicle was improperly registered and he had an outstanding warrant from Jefferson County.
