Versailles ISP master trooper promoted to detective

Versailles, In. — Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter has promoted Master Trooper Jason Duncan, Versailles District, to the rank of detective.

Detective Duncan is a Lawrence County native and a 1991 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School.  He attended Indiana University where he graduated in 1995 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  He graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in December of 1996.  Upon graduating from the academy, he was assigned to the Sellersburg District where he patrolled Clark County.  In 1999, he transferred to the Seymour District and patrolled Bartholomew County.  In 2008, Det. Duncan took a position in the Executive Protection Division and was assigned to then Gov. Mitch Daniels’ Protection Detail.  In 2012, he transferred back to the Versailles District and again patrolled Bartholomew County until his recent promotion.

In his career, Det. Duncan has been a Field Training Officer, Tactical Intervention Platoon Team Member, Child Safety Seat Inspector, and a Control Tactics Instructor.

Det. Duncan was selected to his new position after completing the rigorous Indiana State Police Promotion Process which includes a written test, promotion interview, performance evaluations, and commander recommendations.

Det. Duncan will now be assigned to the Criminal Investigative Division out of the Versailles Post.  According to Versailles District Investigative Commander-First Sergeant Roger Drew, “Detective Duncan’s experience will be an asset to the Versailles District’s Investigative Division and he will continue to serve the citizens of Indiana well in his new role.”

Det. Jason Duncan lives in Bartholomew County with his wife and three children.
