(Versailles, IN) – We have an update from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office on a tractor accident that happened last weekend.

Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Cook Road in Versailles around 6:14 p.m. Friday for a tractor accident with injuries.

Investigators determined that the tractor driven by 27-year-old Joshua Rohrig of Versailles was pulling a family hayride when the brakes failed while traveling downhill.

The tractor then crashed into a ditch.

61-year-old Robert Lindemann of Milan fell from the wagon and landed underneath the tractor tire.

Lindemann was able to free himself from under the tire before first responders arrived.

He was eventually taken to the hospital by Stat Flight for treatment of a back injury.

A 28-year-old female and a juvenile suffered minor injuries and were not transported.

Deputies say drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the accident.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from Ripley County Communications, Ripley County EMS and Versailles Fire Rescue.
