Two groups awarded Belterra grants

Batesville, Ind. — Batesville city council awarded Belterra Casino grants to Safe Passage and the Rural Alliance for the Arts.

Safe Passage will use the $12,000 grant for an exterior painting and sealing project. The 109-year-old building in Batesville has received a more than $100,000 rehabilitation over the past year. The total value of the exterior painting and sealing project is $28,000.

Batesville-based Safe Passage supports and assists domestic abuse victims in a six county area.

The Rural Alliance for the Arts has been approved for a $10,000 grant to produce a photo book. The Project 229 book will document life in Batesville and be used to market the Batesville-Oldenburg area.
