(Franklin County, IN) – Two people were arrested following a vehicle pursuit in Franklin County that began following a reported domestic dispute Thursday afternoon.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says the Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call, reporting that two people in a vehicle were involved in a domestic disturbance, and that the vehicle was westbound on U.S. 52 from the West Harrison area.
Deputies located the vehicle on U.S. 52 east of Brookville and attempted to stop the vehicle to investigate the domestic disturbance complaint.
The driver, 35-year-old Jamie Lynn Benoit, led deputies on a pursuit until she stopped in the area of 5th and Short streets in Brookville, where she was arrested without further incident.
Benoit was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Neglect of a Dependent (both 6 felonies), Possession of Marijuana (Class B misdemeanor), and on a warrant out of Ohio for Receiving Stolen Property. She was lodged in the Franklin County Security Center in lieu of $2,055 bond.
A passenger, 27-year-old Matthew Joseph Hubbard, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana (Class B misdemeanor). Hubbard was taken to the Franklin County Security Center where he was released on his own recognizance.
A one-year old child who was in the vehicle, was placed into the custody of the Department of Child Services.
Speeds did not exceed 40 m.p.h.
Deputies say they’re still investigating and that more charges could be pending.
Franklin County deputies were assisted by the Brookville Police Department.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that Benoit’s and Hubbard’s preliminary charges are for booking and bail purposes only. Once the investigation is completed, deputies will forward their investigation to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of what, if any, formal charges will be filed.
Benoit is from Cleves, Ohio while Hubbard lives in Cincinnati.
