Twisters Baseball Tops Raiders, 5-3

Oldenburg, IN – The Oldenburg Academy Twisters hosted the South Ripley Raiders on Tuesday night, with both teams battling the cold and wind.

South Ripley was the first to get on the board in the 1st inning when an error plated 1 run. But, in the bottom of the 1st, the Twisters knotted the game up a 1-1 with a groundout by Clay Eckstein. A blank 2nd inning led to the top of the 3rd where the Raiders once again took the lead on a single by Mason McNew that plated 1 run. Weston Meyer walked with the bases loaded in the bottom half to tie the game up once more at 2-2.

In the top of the 5th, a single by Trevor Castner gave South Ripley the lead back, 3-2. But once again, Oldenburg responded, this time, taking their first lead of the game at 4-3 after a single and a walk.

Eckstein was the starter for the Twisters; he gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking four. Castner started on the hill for Raiders. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and five runs (three earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out nine and walking eight. Zach Hoff tossed three innings of zero-run ball for the Twisters in relief. The reliever surrendered two hits, striking out six and walking two.

The Twisters head to Shawe Memorial next to take on the Hilltoppers on Thursday!
