The East Central Wrestling Team captured the Sectional Team Title at South Dearborn on Saturday, January 26th.
EC’s team racked up a total of 230.5 points. Lawrenceburg was 2nd with 210 followed by the host Knights with 175, Milan 135, Rushville 129, Connersville 113, Franklin County 103.5, Union County 72, Batesville 34, Greensburg 26.
The Top 4 place winners in each weight class will advance to The Regionals at Richmond on Saturday, February 2nd.
Despite some success during the regular season the Batesville wrestling finished their season at sectionals. The bulldogs had 3 5ths and a 6th. Alex Murphy (113), Josh Mobley(152), and Abram Garcia (195) got 5th for the team. Tyler Schaeffer (132) had a 6th place finish. Caleb Bischoff-Niese (126), Jonah Chase (138), Nick Nobbe (160), Axel Garcia (170), and Brandon Manning (220) also competed. The bulldogs finished 9th out of 10 teams. Despite having no regional qualifiers the 3 fifth place finishers are alternates if needed.
