Thomas Edgar Parker, 90, Greensburg, IN passed away Saturday Sept 21, 2019 following a short illness.
He was born June 26, 1929 on the home farm in Clay Township, Decatur County, Indiana, the son of William and Clara Parker.
He graduated from Burney High School in 1947 where he excelled in basketball. During his life he worked as a farmer, mechanic, and self-employed carpenter.
He collected antique hand tools and was a Wood Carver, belonging to the Hoosier Carvers Club in Columbus, IN.
He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee over the years.
He married Helen V. Bake on October 20, 1950. His beloved wife of 67+ years passed away on July 16, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and John Parker, and sister Betty Parker.
Survivors include his daughters – Melody (Alan) Hefner of West Lafayette and Jane Parker of Greensburg; son – Thomas (Rose) W. Parker, Greensburg; six grandchildren – Jennifer (Joe) Rennekamp, Brian (Margaret) Hefner, Melinda (Charlie) Raab, Anne (Greg) Biever, Karen (Andy) Fisse, Christopher (Valorie) Parker; and 23 great-grandchildren; Sister – Ruth Levell of Chesterton, IN
Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 5:00-7:30 pm at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with Funeral Services Friday, September 27 at 10am also at the funeral home with Rev. David Blazier officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
