INDIANAPOLIS — More rain is expected today, with another round of showers following Sunday’s storm. Forecasters say temperatures will drop significantly in the coming days.
“We’re going to have a progressive trend in colder temperatures,” said Alex McGinnis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. “It’s going to be most noticeable when we turn the page into January, with highs on Wednesday only in the 30s, and spots like Lafayette not even reaching freezing on Thursday.”
Temperatures this weekend will dip into the teens, with wind chills in the single digits. Forecasters say the cold northwesterly winds could bring light snow between Thursday and Friday.
“As this colder pattern continues, there could be a significant winter storm in the Midwest next weekend, around the Sunday-Monday timeframe,” McGinnis said.
He added that the timing for next week’s storm is still being evaluated, but all types of precipitation are possible.
