(Aurora/Dillsboro, IN) – The Superintendent of the South Dearborn Community School Corporation (SDCSC) says there no plans to close Dillsboro Elementary School.

Dr. Ron Ross issued a statement after two people circulated a rumor online claiming that the school corporation was planning to close Dillsboro Elementary.

He called the rumor “categorically false.”

Ross says the rumor apparently stemmed from a communication about an upcoming community meeting on the district’s strategic plan — a meeting, he says, is intentionally designed to invite input and encourage open dialogue about how to strengthen South Dearborn schools.

“Our goal has always been transparency and collaboration. SDCSC is not perfect; like any organization, we have areas where we can grow. That’s why we are focusing on making thoughtful improvements, leading meaningful change, and striving for continuous growth,” Dr. Ross wrote in the statement. “In the past 24 hours, it has become clear that while these people claim to call for progress and improvement, they choose to spread misinformation that undermines our collective efforts. Now more than ever, we must stand together — as parents, staff, and community members — to support our schools, uplift our educators, and remain Knighted in our mission to make South Dearborn the very best it can be.
