Steven Blaine “Steve” Kopp, age 70 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Born October 16, 1954, in Hamilton County Ohio, he is the son of Wayne and Verna (Nee: Minges) Kopp. Steve was the owner and operator of Kopp Cycles in Batesville, before retiring. He served in the Marine Corp. from 1973 – 1975 during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Corporal.
Steve was an avid outdoors-man. He enjoyed squirrel and mushroom hunting, mule riding, and fishing, including yearly salmon fishing excursions in Alaska. He was a life-long Harley rider. Steve will be missed and remembered by his loved ones for his larger-than-life personality, rich storytelling, and contagious humor. He was admired by those who knew him for his steadfast adherence to his convictions and values, and the respect and fellowship he offered to all that he met.
He is survived by his son Cody (Courtney) Kopp of Beech Grove, Indiana; daughter Kasey (Trevor) Apple of Rushville, Indiana; grandchildren Theodore and Mason, with grandson Wilder Blaine on the way; girlfriend Wendy Simonson of Batesville; mother Verna Kopp of Batesville; brother Kevin (Jackie) Kopp of Brookville, Indiana; sisters Kelley (Tony) Kopp and Colleen (Adam) Nixon, all of Batesville, godson and nephew Jamie (Tiffany) Kopp of Brookville, Indiana; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his father, Steve was preceded in death by his brother Gary Kopp.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at St. Mary of the Rock Church in St. Mary’s, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church, with Fr. John Barker OFM officiating. The burial will be held on Tuesday, March 25th, at 12:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Ripley County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville.
