Statewide—Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced Wednesday that Indiana will remain at Stage 4.5 of its Back On Track reopening plan for at least the next two weeks.
In her opening statements, State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box announced that for the second week in a row, the number of positive cases has gone up. Dr. Box stated that just in the last 7 days, there have been 4,300 new cases. Testing capacity has been increased, but they are also adapting to the supply and demand issues from across the US and have impacted the ability to get supplies. This has also increased the wait time to get test results. 11 new sites across the state have been opened to help with the increase in positivity. They anticipate a 3-5 day turnaround on results.
Dr. Box stated that they still expect a surge this fall with the start of the flu season. They ask all Hoosiers to please wear a mask if in public and stay home if you are sick.
Effecting July 23, if you are hosting an event with over 250 people, a written plan outlines steps taken must be completed by the local health department. This applies to festivals, fairs, outdoor concerts, outdoor movies, family reunions, conferences, and weddings. The plan must address capacity limits, guest information, staff and volunteer screening, social distancing measures, increased sanitation, face coverings, and compliance.
