The Cardinals played Franklin County at St. Louis Monday night. It was the final regular season home game and 8th Grade Night.
The 7th-grade team lost to Franklin County in 3 sets, losing the first set 23-25, winning the second set 25-18, and losing the 3rd set 6-15. The top scorers for the Cardinals were Maci Smith with 12 points, Lillian Scheibler with 6 points, and Izzy Dierckman and Elsa Schneider with 4 points each.
Between games, the Cardinals honored eighth graders Campbell Miles (#13) and Ava Hollins (#9). See the pictures below. Both Ava and Campbell have played three seasons of volleyball at St. Louis, and both have been tremendous leaders to the young team this year.
In the 8th grade game, Franklin County won in 2 sets. The Wildcats bested the Cardinals 17-25 and 20-25. The ladies played one of their most well-rounded games against Franklin County, playing tough both offensively and defensively. Campbell Miles led the way in scoring with 11 points. The ladies wowed the home crowd with some outstanding rallies and hard-earned points by both schools.
Both teams continue to show such strength of character as they learn and grow as a team. It is exciting as a coach to see things happening on the floor that we work on in practice. I’m so proud of their effort and enthusiasm game after game. We’re back on the road Tuesday night at Jac-Cen-Del at 5:30pm.
