St. Louis falls to St. Mary’s

The Lady Cardinals played the last home game of the season last night against St. Mary’s. The cardinals trailed by 12 going into half. Lucy Brelage played good defense as usual, forcing turnovers and chasing down the basketball. Kristen Obermeyer also did a phenomenal job getting after the ball and playing physical defense. Cassie Meneses and Reagan Siefert adapted well to the plays being run by St. Mary’s and shut down the paint in the second half. Isla Padgett and Lydia Dwyer each scored 4 points. Claire Baker finished with 12. The Ladies played amazing defense in the second half, only allowing 6 points in the entire second half of play.  Ellie Weberding tried to lead the rally by knocking down a contested 12 foot jump shot, but the Lady Cardinals ended up losing by 8 (22-30). The team has made great improvements this season, as the last time they faced St. Mary’s, the score was 38 to 14.  The Cardinals play the final game of the regular season this Thursday down in Aurora against St. Lawrence. GO CARDS!!
