Thursday in Batesville, St. Louis hosted St. Mary’s in junior high volleyball.
St. Louis coach Erin Trenkamp reported her seventh grade Cardinals won 25-11 and 25-15. Serving points for SLS were Madi Dierckamn with eight, Mimi Smith with seven points and seven aces, Campbell Miles eight points and four aces, Ava Hollins five points, Grace Gutzwiller three points and three aces, Olivia Leising three points and one ace and Elena Beiser with one point and one ace.
“While we had a great serving game, we played an amazing game in all areas,” said Trenkamp. “Our setters Jersey Trenkamp and Campbell Miles were mixing up setting locations to help throw off the opponent. We had solid back row attacks along with our front row which is hard to defend against.”
St. Mary’s took the eighth grade match in three sets: 13-25, 25-19 and 15-6. Serving for SLS were Bridget Lohmueller with 18 points and one ace, Rachel Suttmann eight points and five aces, Ashley Hunter six points and two aces and Felicity Brelage one point.
“These girls had the best game ever during game one,” stated Trenkamp. “They were all full of confidence and meshing like never before. Front row play was on fire and the back row was digging and making plays like never before. It was such a pleasure to witness this. But in games two and three we did lose the confidence a bit and just couldn’t get our bearings back to pull off the win. It was a good fight.”
We thank coach Trenkamp for the information.
