North Decatur slid past Jac-Cen-Del 221-224 in girls golf last evening at North Branch. The Chargers Macy Kinker took co-medalist honors by shooting a 51.
Oldenburg Academy and Greensburg played to a 3-3 tie in boys soccer. Adam Weber recorded a hat trick for the Twisters. Connor Holder had an assist and Ryan Hautman made 12 saves in goal for OA.
In girls soccer, it was Switzerland County over Batesville 5-2. Hailee Weisenbach scored for the Bulldogs, while the other came when the ball deflected into goal off one of the Pacers.
OA swept Hauser in high school volleyball Wednesday night. The Twisters grounded the Jets in three straight sets, while Oldenburg won the JV match in two sets.
Jac-Cen-Del knocked off Batesville in 7th grade volleyball last night by scores of 25-22, 25-14, 15-4. The BMS 8th graders improved to 7-0 with a dominant 25-3, 25-12 win over the Eagles.
Batesville cross country took first in both the boys and girls races at last night’s Ripley County Meet at South Ripley. The Bulldog boys had 29, Milan 41 and the host Raiders 61. Milan’s Gabe Riehle was the boys meet individual champ with a time of 16:34…The Batesville girls notched a perfect 15 to win that race. The first eight finishers were Bulldogs, while 10th through 13th places were BHS runners.
Batesville Middle School cross country won both ends of a four-way meet at Rising Sun that included Milan and Jac-Cen-Del. In the boys race, it was BMS with a perfect 15, the host Shiners 50 and Milan 85…The Bulldogs won the girls race with 19, and Rising Sun had 40. Milan did not field a complete girls team. JCD did not have complete teams for either the boys or girls races.

The Reds open a huge three-game series tonight against the New York Mets at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati trails New York by five games, and San Francisco by one in the NL Wild Card race heading into tonight’s series lid lifter. A pair of lefthanders will start tonight’s game. Andrew Abbott goes for the Reds while the Metropolitans counter with David Peterson.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will miss the rest of the season. Clark has been out since before the All-Star break in July with a groin injury. The team also announced on Thursday that forward Chloe Bibby will also be sidelined the rest of this year. She has a knee injury but is expected to make a full recovery. The Fever hosts the Chicago Sky tonight. Tipoff is at 7:30.
