Twelve teams took part in the Great Pumpkin Invitational at Versailles Thursday evening. North Decatur won the girls race (38). South Dearborn was second (41) and host South Ripley came in third (49). Hauser claimed the boys race (28). North Decatur finished second (57).

Oldenburg boys soccer tied Connersville 2-2. The Twisters rallied from a 2-0 deficit on goals by Connor Holder and Damien Brelege.

Batesville boys soccer defeated Greensburg 2-nil. Trenton Taylor and Simon Berkemeier with goals for the Bulldogs.

Greensburg volleyball swept South Decatur in three sets. Scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-8. .

Oldenburg varsity and JV volleyball topped Milan. It was the Twisters varsity squad over the Indians three sets to one (25-14,25-23,25-19,25-23). OA won sets one, three and four; Milan claimed the second set. The Twister JVs bested the Indians in two sets.

Batesville Middle School volleyball swept Connersville. It was the 7th grade Bulldogs over the Spartans 25-14, 25-16. The BMS 8th graders completed their regular season at 15-0 with a 25-15, 25-23 win.

It’s Week 6 of the high school football season and we have a pair of games tonight on the Sports Voice. Batesville travels to Class 3A #4 Lawrenceburg. Elsewhere around the area tonight, Greensburg visits Franklin County; Milan welcomes Brown County; Class 1A #1 North Decatur is at 2A #9 Linton-Stockton; South Decatur hosts Cloverdale; Connersville is home against Crispus Attucks, and Rushville entertains Class 2A #3 Lapel.

The Reds held off the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 in the home regular season finale as heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. Nick Lodolo was dominant on the mound. He gave up two hits and struck out 12 in 6 1/3 scoreless innings before leaving the game as a precaution with a right groin injury, but got the win. The Reds scored both runs in the 5th on RBI singles by Noelvi Marte and Gavin Lux. Marte also robbed Bryan Reynolds of a game-tying home run to right field in the bottom of the 9th inning. Emilio Pagan pitched a perfect 9th to earn his career-high 30th save, thanks to Marte’s heroics. The Reds remain one game behind New York for the final NL Wild Card spot after the Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 8-5, and the Arizona Diamondbacks fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-0. The Reds open the final series of the regular season tonight when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers. Zach Littell gets the start for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by Brewers righthander Quinn Priester.

The Indiana Fever go up against the Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of their WNBA Semifinal series tonight in downtown Indianapolis. The best-of-five series is tied at one game apiece. Tipoff is at 7:30.
