South Ripley girls’ golf wrapped up the regular season Tuesday in a four-team match at Sunrise Golf Course in Madison vs. the host Cubs, Switzerland County and Southwestern (Hanover). The Raiders finished fourth. Lilly Jones led the way for South Ripley with a 53. The Raiders open sectional play on Tuesday at Greensburg Country Club.

Batesville swept St. Louis in middle school volleyball last night at the Cardinals’ Activity Center. The Bulldogs won the 7th grade match in two sets. Isla Padgett led St. Louis with six points and three aces. Batesville took the 8th grade contest in three sets. Emma Hunter was the leading scorer for the Cardinals with nine points and three aces.

Lucas Cooney of Milan is the ORVC boys’ cross-country runner of the week. Cooney posted a time of 17 minutes at the conference meet hosted by Jac-Cen-Del. You can check out the complete ORVC report for the week of September 9-14 on wrbiradio.com.

The Reds knocked off the Atlanta Braves 6-5 in come from behind fashion last night at Great American Ball Park. Spencer Steer capped off the Reds rally in the bottom of the 7th inning when he clubbed a two-run homer. Steer now has 20 home runs on the year. Brent Suter got the win in relief; Pierce Johnson took the loss for Atlanta,  and Alexis Diaz notched his 28th save. Game two of the series is tonight. The starting pitching matchup features a pair of righthanders. Jakob Junis starts for the Reds against Spencer Schwellenbach. Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 WRBI.
