Congratulations to the ORVC athletes and performers of the week for September 3-7. Macy Stone from South Ripley is the conference volleyball player of the week. She had 11 kills, 38 kill assists, 22 digs, three aces in two matches and recorded her 1,000th career assist last week. The runner of the week is Gabe Riehle from Milan. Oldenburg Academy hosts Richmond in girls’ soccer this evening at the Graveyard. You can hear the match on WRBI starting at 5:30.

Paul Goldschmidt’s double off Buck Farmer in the bottom of the eighth lifted the St. Louis Cardinals over the Reds 2-1 last night at Busch Stadium. Goldschmidt’s hit drove in former Red Michael Siani to break a 1-1 tie. Santiago Espinal’s two-out single in the fourth plated Spencer Steer with the Reds only run. Ryan Hensley pitched a perfect ninth to earn his Major League-leading 44th save. The loss snaps Cincinnati’s three-game winning streak. The rubber match of the series is this afternoon. Jakob Junis starts for Cincinnati. He’ll be opposed by former Red Sonny Gray. Coverage begins at 12:45 on 103.9 WRBI.

The defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces topped the Indiana Fever 86-75 last night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 24 points while Caitlin Clark added 16.
