The Reds beat the Washington Nationals 6-1 last night at Great American Ball Park in a game heard on WRBI. Hunter Greene struck out a season and career-high 12 batters in six innings to get the win. The 114 pitches thrown by Greene is the most by anyone in the major leagues this year. His record improves to 4-2. Tyler Stephenson doubled twice and drove in two runs in his season debut. The start of the game was delayed one hour and 51 minutes by rain. Game two of the series is tonight. Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 FM.
Earlier on Friday, the Reds activated Stephenson from the injured list. He started the season on the IL with an oblique strain. In a corresponding move, the ballclub placed outfielder Austin Hays on the injured list retroactive to Tuesday with a left hamstring strain.
