Batesville run ruled Franklin County 11-1 in 5 innings in Class 3A baseball sectional action at Jennings County in a game heard last evening on the Sports Voice. Dane Dudley’s 2-run walk-off homer in the 5th ended the game. Dudley drove in four runs to lead the BHS attack. Carson Schneider went four for four. Will Jaisle was dominant on the mound – striking out eight while walking one and giving up just two hits in 3 1/3 innings. Batesville pitching allowed just two hits. Blake Stephenson started for the Wildcats and gave up four runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. At the dish, Stephenson and Kaden Welch each had one hit for the Cats. The 10th ranked Bulldogs improve to 20-5 on the season and move on to the semifinals Saturday afternoon against Jennings County. The Panthers got past Lawrenceburg 2-1. The Wildcats finish the season at 9-14.
Congratulations to Will Jaisle, who was selected to play for the South All-Star team. Jaisle will represent Batesville as a pitcher in the 50th annual IHSBCA North-South Series at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette on June 27-29. Jaisle is the Batesville program’s 11th player to receive this honor, and it’s the third consecutive year BHS has had an Indiana All-Star, which is a new program record.
In the Class 1A sectional at Jac-Cen-Del, Oldenburg Academy outlasted Milan 7-5, and the host Eagles were blanked by Hauser 6-0.
In 2A softball sectional action at Brown County, Brownstown Central eliminated South Ripley 14-4.
In the 1A softball sectional at Tri, South Decatur outslugged Morristown 13-6. The Cougars will play the host Tri Titans for the sectional crown tomorrow evening.

In 1A, Milan plays Hauser tonight for the Rising Sun sectional title. First pitch at 6 p.m.
The Royals nipped the Reds 3-2 in Kansas City in a game heard last night on WRBI. Hunter Greene allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk in five innings and took the loss. Cincinnati won two out of three games in the series. The Reds have today off before starting a three-game series in Chicago tomorrow afternoon against the NL Central Division leading Cubs.
The Pacers can advance to the NBA Finals with a win tonight over the New York Knicks in Game Five of the Eastern Conference finals at Madison Square Garden. Indiana holds a commanding three games to one lead in the best of seven series. We’ll join the action following softball sectional coverage.
