Batesville topped host South Dearborn 48-38 to win the Class 3A Sectional 29 boys basketball sectional championship as heard Saturday night on the Sports Voice. It’s the Bulldogs’ second sectional title in the last three years, and fourth for 18-year head coach Aaron Garrett, who moves into second on program’s all-time list. Brayden Maple and James Hughes scored 13 points a piece to lead the Dogs, while Trenten Luers added 11. The Knights were led by 12 points from Scout Gray. Teammate Wyatt Adams chipped in 10. With the win, Batesville improves to 20-4 and will meet #1 Silver Creek in the one-game 3A Regional at Charlestown Saturday afternoon at 4.
South Decatur beat host Tri 53-42 to claim the Class 1A Sectional 59 title. The Cougars go to 18-6 and will play 3rd-ranked Hauser in the 1A Regional at Seymour at 1:00 Saturday afternoon. The Jets bounced host Milan 73-42 to win Sectional 60. The Indians finish the season at 14-11.

Lefthander Andrew Abbott has been named the Opening Day starter when the Reds take on the Boston Red Sox on March 26 in downtown Cincinnati. It will be Abbott’s first career Opening Day start.
The Portland Trailblazers dumped the Indiana Pacers 131-111 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Indiana has not won since the All-Star break. It’s the Pacers’ ninth straight loss. Paskal Siakam led the Blue and Gold with 22 points. The Pacers’ West Coast road trip concludes tomorrow night at Sacramento.
The Indianapolis Colts have traded linebacker Zaire Franklin to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Colby Wooden…And former Colts center Ryan Kelly has announced his retirement. The Colts selected Kelly with the 18th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent nine seasons in Indianapolis, where he started 121 games and made four Pro Bowls. Kelly played his final season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025.
