The postseason honors continue for South Ripley senior Cole Henry. He’s been named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association small school all state boys basketball team. Henry has also been tapped as a top 60 senior player by Hoosier Basketball Magazine. He’s been invited to tomorrow’s Top 60 Senior Workout at Marian University in Indianapolis.
The IHSAA boys basketball state finals take place today at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. Clinton Prairie meets Orleans for the Class 1A championship. Coverage on WRBI via the IHSAA Champions Radio Network begins at 10:30 this morning, followed by the 2A title game between Manchester and University around 12:45.
In college basketball, Houston got past the Purdue Boilermakers 62-60 on a last-second basket in the NCAA tournament Midwest Region semifinals at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Boilermakers bout out of March Madness with a record of 24-12.
The Cougars go on to face Tennessee in tomorrow’s Midwest Regional final. The Volunteers eliminated the Kentucky Wildcats 78-65 in last night’s opener in Indy.
In the South Region semis in Atlanta, Michigan State rallied to knock off Mississippi 73-70, and Auburn bested Michigan 78-65.
Coming up tonight in the Elite Eight, Texas Tech plays Florida, and Alabama meets Duke.
