Oldenburg Academy assistant girls basketball coach Brian Samples will receive a special award from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association next month. Samples, an 11-year girls’ assistant coach and eight-year girls’ head coach, will be recognized as one of two 2025 IBCA Assistant Coaches of the Year at the organization’s clinic April 24-25 at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville.  This is the eighth year that the IBCA is recognizing assistant coaches with an award that goes to those who have contributed in a significant way to their respective schools’ athletic programs. Samples has served as an assistant at OA since the fall of 2023.  He and head coach David Disbro have guided the Twisters to a 40-10 record over the past two seasons and a Class 1A sectional championship this year, which is the program’s third overall and first since 2006. In addition to his duties at OA, Samples is a part-time WRBI sportscaster.  You can read more about him and the award here.
