Class 1A #6 Oldenburg Academy hammered Waldron 60-26 in girls high school basketball last night on WRBI. The Twisters have won 12 straight and improve to 13-1…Elsewhere, Milan topped Lincoln 39-15, and it was New Palestine 53 Franklin County 46.

At the Edinburgh Tournament, South Dearborn got past Hagerstown 38-37, and knocked off the host Lancers 60-41.  

On today’s schedule, Batesville entertains Switzerland County, East Central plays Westfield in the Lauren Hill Classic at Lawrenceburg, and South Ripley goes to Madison.

In boys hoops action, Shelbyville beat North Decatur 74-36 at Richmond’s Bob Wettig Tournament. The Chargers rebounded last evening with a 77-64 win over Phalen Academy….South Dearborn lost both of its games at the Fishers Tourney. It was the host Tigers over the Knights 79-37. Evansville Bosse edged South Dearborn 79-74 last evening

Oldenburg visits Connersville tonight on WRBI. Coverage from the Spartan Bowl begins around 7:15 on 103.9 FM, wrbiradio.com and the WRBI app. In the only other game on tonight’s docket, Franklin County travels to Jennings County.

7th seed Notre Dame eliminated 2nd seed Georgia 23-10 in the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinals last evening in New Orleans.  The Fighting Irish have won 12 in a row. They’ve set a program record for wins in a season and improve to 13-1. Notre Dame will take on #6 Penn State in the semifinal round at the Orange Bowl in Miami next Thursday night.

Several Bengals and Colts have been named by the NFL to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Quarterback Joe Burrow, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and defensive end Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals, and Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin, guard Quenton Nelson and running back Jonathan Taylor were voted to the AFC team by fans, players and coaches. Cincinnati running back Chase Brown and offensive tackle Orlando Brown, Jr. plus Indianapolis defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and center Ryan Kelly were chosen as alternates. The Pro Bowl Games take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 in Orlando, Florida.

The Pacers cooled off the Heat 128-115 last night in Miami. Tyrese Haliburton led the way with 33 points and 15 rebounds.
