The Chicago Cubs avoided a three-game series sweep and bounced the Reds 6-1 at Wrigley Field in a game heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. The Cubs hit three home runs in the game. Seiya Suzuki drove in two runs on a sacrifice fly and a homer. Andrew Abbott pitched well but took the loss. He falls to 8-2 on the year. The Cincinnati Bengals the preseason tonight in Philadelphia against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. The team announced yesterday the Bengals will wear the fan-favorite “White Bengal” helmet and uniform combination when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers for Thursday Night Football on October 16 at 8:15 p.m.
Tonight, the Indianapolis Colts will take the field for the first time of the 2025 preseason. They will face the Baltimore Ravens. Anthony Richardson is starting at quarterback, but you can expect to see a lot of Daniel Jones and even Riley Leonard as well. Head coach Shane Steichen says Richardson has shown a lot more consistency this training camp. The Colts and the Ravens have been holding joint practices in the last week out East. The Indiana Fever concludes its western road trip against the Phoenix Mercury in WNBA action tonight. Caitlin Clark remains sidelined. Head coach Stephanie White says they are prioritizing Clark’s long-term health as they slowly work her back from her groin injury. Indiana is 17 and 13 on the season. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have essentially have an entirely new offensive line this season. The Irish lost four offensive linemen to Power 5 schools in the transfer portal between last season and this year. Lawrenceburg’s Ashton Craig is the only returning starter, and he missed most of last season with a knee injury. Craig told reporters after practice on Wednesday that he is grateful to be back and hopes to have a long and productive season leading the Irish in the trenches.
The Indianapolis Indians came up short after falling to the Storm Chasers 5-4. Drake Fellows suffered the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks. The Indians have dropped back to back games and will continue their six-game series against Omaha tonight.
