In Week 2 high school football action heard last night on WRBI, Batesville got past Milan 27-20 and East Central slid past Harrison 21-20. Elsewhere around the area, Franklin County rolled Connersville 62-28; Greenfield-Central bested Greensburg 34-21; North Decatur toppled Eastern Hancock 41-27; Shenandoah blanked South Decatur 39-0; it was Lawrenceburg over Taylor (Ohio) 41-13; South Dearborn shut out Madison 42-0, and Shelbyville knocked off Rushville 45-20.

The St. Louis Cardinals outlasted the Reds 7-5 in 10 innings to take the weekend series opener last night in downtown Cincinnati. The Reds have dropped four straight and are now five games behind the New York Mets for the final National League Wild Card spot. Lefthander Andrew Abbott takes the mound for Cincinnati in the middle game of the series tonight. St. Louis counters with righthander Michael McGreevy. Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 FM.

The Indiana Fever got past the Los Angeles Sparks 76-75 late last night on the West Coast. Aliyah Boston scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Odyssey Sims added 21 points. Indiana improves to 20-18. The Fever is back on the court tomorrow night at Golden State.

In college football this afternoon, the Purdue Boilermakers open the season at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette against the Ball State Cardinals; and The Indiana Hoosiers kick off the 2025 campaign at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington vs. Old Dominion. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are at Miami of Florida tomorrow night.

IndyCar wraps up the season tomorrow at the Music City Grand Prix in Nashville.
