Batesville girls soccer took two at Greensburg last night. It was the Bulldogs over the Pirates in the varsity contest 7-2. Hailee Weisenbach and Emma Miller scored two goals a piece. The Batesville and Greensburg JVs played one half, with the Bulldogs coming out on top 7-2.
Greensburg Jr. High went up to Rushville to take part in a tri-meet with Greendale and host Benjamin Rush Middle School. The Pirate girls won their race while the Greensburg boys came in second to Greendale.
South Decatur bested South Ripley in varsity volleyball in four sets. Scores were 27-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22. The Cougars won the first, third and fourth sets while the Raiders took the second set.
Batesville Middle School’s 7th grade volleyball team beat Greendale in two sets, 25-21, 25-22. The 8th grade Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the season by knocking off the Bengals in two sets, 25-17, 25-9.

The college football season kicked off last night. Nebraska got past UC 20-17 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
The Reds open a nine-game homestand tonight with the first of three against the St. Louis Cardinals. Zach Littell makes the start for Cincinnati. He’s 9-8 with a 3.62 earned run average. Lefthander Matthew Liberatore (LIBB-urr-uh-tore) starts for St. Louis. He’s 6-11 with a 4.27 ERA.
