The postseason honors continue for South Ripley boys basketball coach Seve Beach. He’s been named district 3 coach of the year by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association. Beach guided the Raiders to a 23-2 season that included Ripley County Tourney, ORVC and the Sectional 45 championships. He has a 47-25 record in three seasons with the Raiders and a career mark of 90-97 in eight seasons as a head coach.
For the second consecutive game, the Texas Rangers shut out the Reds 1-0 yesterday afternoon at Great American Ball Park in a game heard on WRBI. The Reds scored 14 runs in the series opener on Monday but failed to score in the final two games. Hunter Greene pitched a gem, striking out eight while allowing the only run of the game, Josh Smith’s RBI double in the 4th inning. Greene also recorded his 500th career strikeout in the 7th. The Reds embark on their first road trip of the year when they open a four-game series in Milwaukee tonight. The starting pitching matchup features a pair of lefthanders. Nick Lodolo starts the Reds while the Brewers counter with Nestor Cortes. Coverage begins at 7:10 on 103.9 FM.
The Pacers knocked off the Charlotte Hornets 119-105 in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Tyrese Haliburton tossed in a game-high 22 points and dished out 10 assists. The Pacers improve to 45-31 on the year and have eight of their last 11 games. The homestand wraps up tomorrow night against the Utah Jazz.
