Hauser blanked North Decatur 9-0 in varsity baseball last evening. The visiting Jets scored five runs in the 7th inning, and banged out 10 hits in the game. Matthew Fields led the Chargers offense with a hit in three at-bats. North Decatur played error free ball.
Rushville outslugged North Decatur 15-9 in varsity softball. Madison Rohls went 3 for 5 at the plate for the Chargers…In the JV contest, Rushville rolled over North Decatur 17-2. The Lions scored 14 runs in the 2nd inning to put the game away.
The Seattle Mariners held off the Reds 5-3 at Great American Ball Park in a game heard last night on WRBI. Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit two home runs – one from each side of the plate. Cincinnati trailed 5-0 before rallying for all three of its runs in the 7th inning. Nick Martinez allowed four runs – three earned – and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. He took the loss and falls to 0-3 on the year. Bryce Miller started for Seattle and got the win. Andres Munoz notched the save. The loss snaps the Reds four game winning streak. They had also won six of their last seven. The rubber match of the three-game series is this afternoon. Brady Singer will start for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by Bryan Woo. The Bengals are bringing back free agent quarterback Logan Woodside on a one-year contract for the 2025 season. Woodside spent last season on Cincinnati’s practice squad. He’ll be classified as a fifth year player in 2025.
