(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County United Fund Board of Directors recently approved a one-time gift of $7,200 towards the Speranza House Broadway location to help cover expenses until state funding is received.

Speranza House is a women’s faith-based sober living home whose mission is to provide a nurturing, sober, home-like environment to women who are struggling with addiction.

Founded in 2018, Speranza House provides a structured 9-12 month program including individual and group counseling and covers critical areas such as life skills, financial literacy, women’s trauma, healthy relationships, 12-step programming, nutritional planning, time management, money management, and stress management.

They currently have two homes: Speranza Central and the newly opened Speranza Broadway.

United Fund and Speranza House believe every woman deserves the opportunity to begin her recovery journey without financial hardship as a barrier. Speranza’s short-term scholarship program helps cover the cost of five women housed in their newly opened facility.

Speranza House has currently applied for certification by the state to receive state funding. Due to the timeline and waiting period for state funding, this support is pivotal to help these women take their first step to a healthier, sober, and fulfilling life.

Statistics show 137 women have improved their lives and worked to overcome their addiction and seek recovery with the help from Speranza House. Eighty-seven percent are in active recovery with an average length of stay of 126 days. Eighty-three women are employed.

“As a community and with the help of United Fund, we support 16 funded partners providing valuable resources in keeping families healthy, supporting educational programs, and financial stability for all. Speranza House is one of these sixteen partners and continues to expand and provide valuable services to those in our community.” said United Fund Executive Director Joane Cunningham.

“It is amazing to see Speranza House work with women in recovery. This expansion is a perfect example of the high priority to meet these specific recovery needs. I am very proud of the funded partner, their strong board, and due diligence to provide valuable resources,” added Cunningham.
