Spartz Town Halls Turn Rowdy

(Westfield/Muncie, IN) – Congresswoman Victoria Spartz and the head of the Delaware County Republican Party are both blaming the “local left” for two rowdy town halls, one Friday in Westfield and one Saturday in Muncie.

While the crowd outside the building in Westfield shouted “This is what democracy looks like!” the crowd of 500 or so people inside the IMMI Center shouted down many of Spartz’s responses to questions about the Dept. of Government Efficiency and whether Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz should resign over the Signal App incident.

“No, I will not demand their resignations,” said Spartz, which immediately was met with shouts and boos.

Spartz’s team changed the venue of the Westfield town hall late last week due to “capacity concerns” and the house was packed Friday. But, Spartz said she believed she was set upon by a crowd pre-disposed to being disagreeable.

“I don’t think radical left has learned yet that shouting and screaming is not going to work – no one is going to be intimidated,” says Spartz on social media, following the Muncie town hall. “I still appreciate everyone who came to my town halls this week & hope at least some on the left were able to hear common sense policies we are trying to implement benefiting all Americans.”

“I have personally apologized to U.S. Rep. Spartz for the local left’s disruptive, disrespectful, and immoral behavior. Shouting down an elected official is unacceptable and goes against the principles of civil discourse and Hoosier hospitality,” said Tim Overton, chair of the Delaware County Republican Party.

“More and more residents are realizing that today’s Democratic Party is not the same as it once was. We invite the people of Delaware County to join our local Republican Party, which stands for common sense values and respectful dialogue,” he said.

However, some of the people at the meeting told our newsgathering partners at WISH TV they had legitimate gripes and they believe Spartz is tone deaf.

“She gave no direct answers, she just gave the talking points she wanted people to hear,” said Joyce Kleinman. “And she kept saying she wanted to have a conversation. And that’s not a conversation.”
