
(Laurel, IN) – Snow-covered roads and slick conditions likely contributed to a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 52 at West Roberts Road in Laurel Sunday morning.
First responders arrived around 10:30 a.m. and found both vehicles in the westbound lane of 52 at the intersection with West Roberts.
Drivers and passengers were able to get out of their wrecked vehicles with assistance from emergency crews.
The injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The number of people hurt was not disclosed.
U.S. 52 was closed during the rescue operation and so that firefighters could make sure there were no fuel leaks or other hazards prior to the vehicles being towed from the scene.
Responding agencies were the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, and Letts EMS-Franklin County Paramedics.
Laurel firefighters remind drivers to use caution during adverse winter weather road conditions and to adjust driving behavior accordingly.
