(Ripley County, IN) – The National Weather Service confirms a second tornado – an EF-1 twister – touched down east of Napoleon and southwest of Sunman shortly after 8 p.m. on March 30.
The tornado lasted about six minutes and traveled 4.78 miles, with a path width of 200 yards.
Maximum wind speeds were clocked at 90 mph, resulting in the EF-1 rating.
Signs of concentrated damage were found along State Road 48 between County Road 100 East and County Road 200 East.
Several trees and outbuildings were damaged south of State Road 48, with a few trees damaged north of 48.
The weather service says the tornado continued east, crossed 48 and destroyed an outbuilding.
In addition, the agency says other trees were uprooted and there was a destroyed barn and minor home damage along North County Road 200 East, just north of State Road 48.
More damage to trees and outbuildings was spotted near North County Roads 500, 505 and 600 East.
The weather service says the tornado likely dissipated south of State Road 48 and east of North County Road 600 East.
There were no injuries reported.
