Saturday’s girls schedule sees Lady Indians, coach Voss get first win

Varsity girls basketball recaps from Saturday, November 19.

Milan got its first win of the season beating Indiana School for the Deaf 47-37.

This was also the first varsity coaching win for Milan coach Karisa Voss.

The Lady Indians Rachel Holt recorded a triple double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.  Teammate Audrey Schmidt had a double double with 14 points and 10 boards.  Riley Schwipps added nine points and Riley Clark scored eight with a 6 for 6 effort at the stripe.

North Decatur defeated South Decatur 63-48 in the Civil War Game.

The visiting Cougars led by five after the first quarter but North took over the lead by halftime, 33-29, and went on to win by 15.

The Chargers saw Madi Allen post a game-high 20 points.  Teammates Ella Kunz and Madelyn Bohman followed with 17 and 13 respectively.

For the Cougars, Loryn Pate tallied 13 points.  Kiley Best and Brayley Sundal dropped in eight each.

Oldenburg lost to Morristown 38-31. 

The Twisters led by two at the half but trailed by one after three.

OA saw Ellie Ryan garner 12 points and seven rebounds. Emma Weberding added 10 points and five boards.  Hannah Haverkos logged nine points and four steals.

Reagan Kleine scored 25 of the Yellow Jackets 38 points.

Southwestern Hanover was a 60-56 winner over South Dearborn.

Kylie Eccles and Trinity McClain both booked 19 points for the Rebels.  Ashley Fulton and Emma Long totaled 12 and 10 respectively.  Long also had a team-best nine rebounds. McClain had four assists and four steals.

The 56 points was a season high for the Knights.  In the loss, SD got 17 points from Natalie Rupp and 11 from Jillian Bond.

Waldron won big over Rising Sun 57-15. 

The Mohawks Bella Larrison led with 13 points and Megan Bogemann followed with 11.

The Shiners top scorer was Baylee Morris with five.

Rushville rolled over Beech Grove 56-11.

The Lions Briley Munchel and Annika Marlow individually outscored the Hornets with 17 points each.  The pair also combined for 13 steals.

Franklin County fell to Switzerland County 46-40.

After trailing for most of the first half, Franklin County took two brief leads in the second half but couldn’t hang on to them.  Switzerland County won the game at the foul line making 19 of 27 to only 5 of 11 shooting at the stripe by the Wildcats.

Junior Josie Rolfes led FC with 12 points while Jenna Bruns and Kassidy Schell each had eight.

  • Greensburg dropped a decision to Jennings County 56-45.
  • Shawe smothered Seven Oaks Classical School 45-6.
  • Connersville lost to Anderson 44-39.
