Sara “Sally” Zoller Moulton, age 100, of Terre Haute, Ind., passed away peacefully with family by her side in Batavia, Ohio on April 2nd, 2023. Sally was born in May 1922 in Greensburg, Ind., to late Helen Brown Zoller and Karl Hendricks Zoller. Sally is survived by the her two daughters, Molly Greer of Batavia, OH, Jane (Jeff) Buel of Fort Myers, and daughter-in laws Kely Palmer, Linda Kelly, and Molly Moulton; along with seven grandchildren Dr. Sara (James) Hall of Cincinnati, Katie (Edgar) Moulton of Baltimore, Allison Greer of Ormond Beach, Melinda Moulton, Nick Moulton, and Matt Moulton of Terre Haute, and Kristin (Matt) Flaker of Urbana, OH; great grandchildren Callan Smith, Giamora and Ariela Franco, Peter and Katherine Flaker; along with several nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her three sons Jamie, David, and John and beloved husband James “Ken” Moulton.
Young Sally founded her love for nature and animals during her time on the family farm of her grandparents Carl and Lula Button Brown in Greensburg, Indiana. Following her mother’s footsteps, Sally earned her degree at Miami University of Oxford, Ohio focusing on English, as a proud participant in Tri Delta sorority, Phi Beta Kappa, and Mortar Board. She was an articulate librarian at Indiana University and a beloved wife of Ken Moulton with whom she shared 52 wonderful years. Sally was known as an active loving mother of five children while being involved in community organizations in Terre Haute. Sally served on the board of Swope Art Museum Alliance and Community Theatre of Terre Haute. She was a proud member of TOBIES, PEO sisterhood, Central Presbyterian Church, Country Club of Terre Haute, as well as many others.
Sally’s creativity and passion for the arts was demonstrated by her puppet performances for youth with The Little Stage Players and her dedicated appearances at the Beaux Arts Ball competitions. Her magnetic and loving personality drew her family and friends close. She was honored to live a full life enjoying nature, gardening, and traveling with friends. Sally is well-known for her generous hospitality and her joy of sharing family stories. During Sally’s last chapter, she was grateful for her loving caregivers and thankful for her time spent with family.
Memorial celebrations will be conducted at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana with private reception to follow on Thursday, April 6th at 1:30 pm.
Sally’s memorial tributes and funeral arrangements will be under direction of Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home of Greensburg, Indiana.
